About the Event
Altrusa DFW is proud to sponsor our 19th Annual Red Bag Food Drive to benefit local families in need. With the COVID-19 pandemic, a record number of families are struggling financially, thus food pantry needs are extremely high.
These unusual times have necessitated some changes from our usual assembly of 1,200+ food baskets—in the interest of safe social distancing, this year we will instead be collecting food and cash donations and distributing them directly to several local food pantries.
Food Donations are made using the Red Bag attached to your door (delivered Dec 5-6). Please place non-perishable food items (see list below) inside the Red Bag then choose one of the following options:
- On December 13th place the Red Bag on your front porch where we will be sure to see it! Our community volunteers will collect filled bags on the morning of Sunday, December 13th--please place out by 10:00 am. If yours is not collected by nightfall, call 214-298-8370 and special pick-up arrangements will be made.

Can’t wait that long? Take your filled Red Bag to Tom Thumb at 100 West Southlake Blvd. and place it in the round barrel in the lobby any day during regular store hours through 5pm on Saturday, December 12th.
A Monetary Donation will allow the local food banks to purchase the most needed food items in bulk, plus it will save you a trip to the grocery store.
